19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
